Playing with colour

This week's April Style Challenge is all to do with colour, hence the colour wheel above.  Imogen explains the different combinations and gives some examples in her helpful post.  If you're anything like me, you probably combine a basic shade (navy denim jeans, anyone?) with one or maybe two other colours, and you may have a tendency to wear the same pair of jeans with particular tops. This week, why not look at other colour combinations? Go on, I dare you!

Today's outfit is all about analogous colours i.e. colours beside each other in the colour wheel.  I decided to wear a yellow top, with green shoes and a green ring, plus my dark blue jeans.  When I went out earlier I wore one of my favourite scarves, which has green, blue and yellow (plus orange, pink and white!) flowers, and is ideal for pulling different colours together.

If you decide to try a new colour combination, please let me know what colours you used and whether it is a combination that you would wear again.

  1. I am notorious for wearing the same outfits all the time, with barely a thought for color combinations!

You inspire me, Sue, for the GOOD! I love your style :)

  2. Thanks, Susan. I must admit that I was the same when I was working, but now that I am retired I have more time to try out different looks. Try something different, and let me know how successful it is!

  3. I'm guilty of wearing the same jeans, just out of habit - note to self, 'stop it'. :) I'd love to wear red with purple, but will need a bit of wardrobe updating - any excuse!

  6. Hi Sue!

You live in Spain?? WOW! I've always wanted to visit Spain - I've heard how friendly it is there :)

I like to shop for good quality clothes that will last for a decade or more. I don't like cheap materials, but prefer natural cloth, if possible.

You make me feel like shopping :)

    1. Hi Susan

Yep! I live in Spain and they are definitely very friendly here, especially in our local town of Jumilla.

I try and buy good quality clothes too, especially when it comes to jackets, skirts and trousers. Even when I buy cheaper, more fashionable items, I try to choose items that won't date too quickly.

If you read my next post, you will see that many companies are now selling Fair Trade cotton clothes.

Hope that I haven't tempted you to spend too much!

    She is not impressed.

It's either I do that or I buy my own clothes...

the top was two sizes too small

    and

    men...clothes...colour coordination!

    1. William, your purple shirt, blue trousers and white shoes sounds like a perfectly acceptable combination to me! I guess though that it might not be the best look for the office.

My husband is strangely drawn to the colour orange, however I did manage to persuade him that bright orange shorts were only suitable for wearing on the beach. The occasional orange t-shirt with jeans is OK though.

Yes - men, clothes, colour co-ordination. They don't always go together!
