I am hoping that this month's challenge will help me be more creative when I'm deciding on my daily outfits. I'm posting the ones from week one below - and would welcome any suggestions on how to improve them.
Day 1 |
Day 2 |
Day two's outfit: as you can see, my cardigan and short-sleeved top are a warmer shade of green. Do you agree that this is a more flattering colour?
Day 3 |
Day 4 |
I was wearing cooler colours again on day 3, though with a gold necklace. I know vertical stripes aren't advised for petites, however I do enjoy wearing them. Rules are made to be broken, aren't they? I think the navy stripes in the jumper worn with navy jeans does help make me look a bit taller too.
Day 4 illustrates the beauty of having a hero piece (the patterned cardigan) in a capsule wardrobe. I'm wearing my cardigan with a brown top and jeggings in this photo, however I could also wear it with coral, teal, yellow, green or pink as all those colours are in the pattern.
Day 5 |
Day 6 |
I wore my new chocolate brown lace top and sand trousers for Day 6. This outfit is one of my favourites as I feel elegant wearing it, and elegance doesn't come naturally to me. My style recipe is colourful casual chic with a little bit quirky and a Parisian influence. Perhaps it's the Parisian influence at work here?
So for week one I succeeded in wearing seven completely different outfits, though as you can see I did repeat the trousers. The outfits that I wore were a mix of new clothes and pieces that have been in my wardrobe for a while. There was also a mix of outfits in cooler colours and warmer ones. I think my favourites were the ones I wore on day 2, day 4 and day 6 - I'd love to hear what you think too.
What immediately catches my eye is your excellent use of necklaces. It only takes a moment to add a necklace, but your photos prove what a difference it makes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. The teenage daughter of a friend loves my necklaces (and also my bags),which I take as a huge compliment! I usually wear a necklace with my outfits, though sometimes I find a scarf looks better.
DeleteYou look lovely and very stylish in all of them. I agree with your favorites but would also add the outfit from Day 5 as the color and shapes really work for you. You asked about the top from Day 1 and to me in addition to the color not being the best for you the sleeves and shoulders look too large. I don't think it is doing you any favors at least looking at the photo. Lovely first week overall!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Juhli. It looks as if I should definitely put the top from Day 1 into the recycling then! There are certain days when I definitely feel the need to wear red (for more energy) and the top from Day 5 is a favourite of mine.
Delete#6,5,4,2 in that order are my favourite colours on you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Claudette. It definitely looks like a vote for the warmer colours!
DeleteYour choices are all excellent...the scarf stepped up the top in #1 but I agree with Miss Juhli that fit and color were not quite "there". I especially liked #5 and also #6 and #7. Your use of accessories is just right.
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for recycling the top in no 1 then, Donna! Thanks for your comments. It looks as if no 5 is a popular outfit.
DeleteGreat outfits! I liked every one. But I think you're right about your coloring being more warm than cool, and I particularly liked the outfits with warmer colors. That is something I am hoping this challenge will help me with, too. All of my clothes fit within a warm color palette (well, several palettes in different systems) but I know that even within a palette, some colors are better than others. So I am scrutinizing my pics for evidence of greatness! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how looking at photos of your outfits helps you see which ones flatter you the most. it will be interesting to see how much we learn from doing this challenge, Jeanine.
DeleteHello...i really like that you have posted photos of you dressed in your outfits!
ReplyDeleteAll your outfits look good, except #1, with #5 and #6 my top favourites...you look great in those colours...I think if you wore the grey top from #2 with the floral cardigan instead of the brown top which i think is too strong of a colour for such a beautiful sweater, it would look sensational. Both your striped tops are cute! I am not completely sure of the colours in the scarf with outfit #7 but i think outfit #2 and #6 might look nice with the addition of something, maybe this scarf? at your neckline.
...have you tried to layer any of your tops under another to get a peek of colour either at your neckline or at the bottom of the tops? I also think if you loosened the knotting on scarf #1 that it would look nicer (with another outfit!) and i always thought rounded collars rather than v-neck look better with cardigans, but that is just me :o) ..overall, you have done a smashing job of looking really great in your outfits and of course, your smile and happiness adds to your prettiness! thank you for sharing...i hope you are having fun with all the dress-ups!
Thanks for your helpful suggestions. You're obviously another fan of stripes! I admit that I can't resist them. I don't do a lot of layering (maybe I should try it during this challenge, but only if it becomes a lot cooler!) however I have a couple of tops and a dress that are a bit low-cut on me so wear camisoles underneath. You're probably right about rounded necklines under cardigans - something else I need to try out, though I tend to go more for V necks as I'm short.
DeleteDay 5 is my favorite. The coral-red brings life to your face, and the V-neck is very flattering! Good job!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. I think day 5 is the winner!
DeleteI think the day 3 outfit is my favorite! I think it makes you look long and lean. Good job with week one. I look forward to your future posts.
